(Opglabeek) Das Reitsportzentrum Sentower Park in Opglabeek/Belgien ist Gastgeber für die Auftaktetappe der BEMER Young Riders Tour und die hat es “in sich”. Ein richtiges Youth-Festival mit Nationenpreisen für alle Altersklassen und Großer Tour für den Nachwuchs lockt in dieser Woche junge Talente aus elf Nationen nach Belgien. Einer hat schon mal alles richtig gemacht und die erste Wertungsprüfung gewonnen. Antoine Erdman, 21 Jahre junger Franzose, schreibt Geschichte, denn er ist die erste Rankingspitze einer BEMER Young Riders Tour-Etappe
Mit dem elf Jahre alten Beryl des Pres ließ Ermann in 37,38 fehlerfreien Sekunden drei Mitbewerber hinter sich und ist damit in der Pole Position der ganz neu aufgelegten Serie. Zuhause ist der junge Profi in Chevagny-les-Chevriéres und gemeinsam mit einem Partner bereits selbstständig mit dem Sportstall Ecurie Antome.
Knapp hinter dem französischen Sieger reihte sich der Gewinner der Qualifikation ein – Mannschafts-Europameister Thibeau Spits aus Belgien mit der Stute Ibestra VB. Überhaupt geriet diese erste Etappe der BEMER Young Riders Tour zu einem veritablen Erfolg für den jungen belgischen Springsport, denn Roy van Beek/ Chacco Me Biolley folgte auf Platz drei. “Hier sind viele richtig gute Reiter am Start”, stellte der junge deutsche Kollege Hannes Ahlmann unumwunden klar. Ahlmann selbst wurde Elfter mit Baloucan und war damit bester deutscher Starter. Rund 700 Pferde und Ponys aus ganz Europa logieren seit Dienstag für ein umfassendes Sportprogramm mit Nationenpreisentscheidungen in allen Nachwuchs-Altersklassen im Sentower Park.
Die nächste Etappe mit der Chance, Punkte in der BEMER Young Riders Tour zu sammeln, folgt bereits vom 13. – 17. April im italienischen Gorla Minore.

“Jede Initiative für die Jugend ist gut und willkommen”, unterstreicht Veranstalter Laurens Meynaerts und weiter: “Wir haben hier bei uns viele Veranstaltungen, die sich eben auch an den Nachwuchs richten, so wie das Nationenpreisturnier jetzt. Die BEMER Young Riders Tour ist ein zusätzliches Angebot, das wir gern aufgenommen haben. Die jungen Reiterinnen und Reiter sind die Zukunft des Sports.”
“Brückenbauer” für die Zukunft
Die BEMER Young Riders Tour baut der Generation U21 “eine Brücke” in den großen internationalen Sport. Und diese Brücke ist immens wichtig. Deutschlands Bundestrainer Otto Becker sagt es so: “Jeder Sprung von einer Altersklasse zur nächsten ist schwer. Aber am schwersten ist der von den Jungen Reitern in den internationalen Sport als Reiter/ Reiterin.”
Dafür braucht es gute Plattformen wie den FEI Jumping Nations Cup Youth, den die BEMER Young Riders Tour nun bei acht internationalen Turnieretappen ergänzt.
Vorteil: Eine zusätzliche Beanspruchung von Pferden und Reiter/innen entfällt, die Chancen für die Zukunft allerdings werden umfangreicher. Der Modus der BEMER Young Riders Tour ist ganz pragmatisch an den der klassischen BEMER Riders Tour angelehnt und folgt dem Serienprinzip mit Punktesammlung bei jeder Etappe. Wer die meisten Punkte hat, ist “Young Rider of the Year” und bekommt in der Folgesaison einen Startplatz bei vier Etappen der BEMER Riders Tour. Also dort wo das sportliche “Establishment” schon ist. Und auch für die Zweit- und Drittplatzierten gibt es Startplätze in der klassischen internationalen Serie. BEMER Young Riders Tour – Opglabeek sets the pace
(Opglabeek) The Sentower Park equestrian centre in Opglabeek/Belgium is hosting the opening stage of the BEMER Young Riders Tour, and it is a great one. A real Youth Festival with Nations’ Cups for all age groups and a Big Tour for young riders attracts young talents from eleven nations to Belgium this week. One of them has already done everything right and won the first competition. Antoine Erdman, a 21-year-old French rider, is making history, as he is the first top-ranked rider of a BEMER Young Riders Tour competition.
With the eleven-year-old Beryl des Pres, Ermann left three competitors behind him in 37.38 clear seconds and is thus in pole position in the brand new series. The young professional is at home in Chevagny-les-Chevriéres and is already self-employed together with his partner at the Ecurie Antome stables.
Just behind the French winner was the winner of the qualification – European Team Champion Thibeau Spits from Belgium with the mare Ibestra VB. Altogether, this first leg of the BEMER Young Riders Tour turned out to be a veritable success for young Belgian showjumpers, as Roy van Beek/ Chacco Me Biolley followed in third place. “There are a lot of really good riders competing here,” the young German colleague Hannes Ahlmann stated bluntly. Ahlmann himself came eleventh with Baloucan and was thus the best German starter. Around 700 horses and ponies from all over Europe are staying at Sentower Park this week for a comprehensive sporting programme with Nations’ Cup decisions in all young rider age divisions.

“Every initiative for youth sport is good and welcome,” emphasises organiser Laurens Meynaerts and continues: “We have many events here with us that are also aimed at young riders, such as the Nations’ Cup event now. The BEMER Young Riders Tour is an additional offer that we were happy to take up. The young riders are the future of the sport.”
“Bridge builder” for the future
The BEMER Young Riders Tour builds “a bridge” for the U21 generation into the big international sport. And this bridge is immensely important. Germany’s national coach Otto Becker puts it this way: “Every jump from one age group to the next is difficult. But the hardest one is the one from the young riders to the international sport as a rider.”
This requires good platforms such as the FEI Jumping Nations Cup Youth, which the BEMER Young Riders Tour now complements at eight international show stages.
Advantage: There is no additional strain on horses and riders, but the opportunities for the future become more extensive. The mode of the BEMER Young Riders Tour is based on that of the classic BEMER Riders Tour and follows the series principle with points being collected at each stage. The rider with the most points is the “Young Rider of the Year” and receives a starting place at four stages of the BEMER Riders Tour in the following season. In other words, where the “big guns” already are. And there are also starting places in the classic international series for the second and third-placed riders.
